Doktor Gotard wyjaśnia, że to szczególna opieka nad zmarłymi, by nie zorientowali się, że są martwi. Tam ich życie jeszcze się nie skończyło; czas nie przeminął. Józef visits his father in the mysterious sanatorium in the Carpathian Mountains. Although his father is dead, the clocks at the sanatorium have been set back. Doctor Gotard explains that it is a special care for the dead, so they will not realise they are gone. Their lives have not ended there yet; the time has not passed. We watch frozen memories in a magical device, an optical box, which, thanks to alchemy, once a year allows us to see through seven lenses mystical visions saved on the retina of the eye.
