The young puppeteer Pauline Drünert and the brilliant musician Alexandra Lupidi tell the fairy tale of the Brothers Grimm Rumpelstiltskin, the story of a young girl who was imprisoned by the king in the castle to turn straw into gold. Ilka Schönbein’s production comes with few props, but the more effective use. In the blink of an eye, an umbrella becomes a spinning wheel, releasing a braid and transforming it into spun gold.
„ To spin straw into gold? This is the ability I like, says the king.”
“ A living creature is more precious to me than the all wealth of the world, says the little man.”
“These are the two main phrases of the story and it floats between them.”
