The idea of the workshop is an introduction to the artistic trend called surrealism.
The workshop has a form of a dramatised lecture using varied artistic matters: from live theatre and audio drama to the puppetry that involves viewers into the stage narration. The authors use original quotes from works and speeches by people connected with surrealism (Freud, Artaud, Breton, Aragon, Tzara, Magritte, Dali, Lorka and many others). The workshop presents the main ideas and the philosophy of surrealism – the artistic trend created as a result of the value crisis after the world war and inspired by Freud’s studies in dreams that express human subconsciousness.
The expressions “poems out of a hat” or “ecritureautomatique” (automatic record) will be explained.
